Visual Effects Supervisor

Juan I. Cabrera has recently won two AIS Awards for his stereoscopic work on Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens. He has also worked on films such as Transformers: Age of Extinction, Star Trek Into Darkness and The Amazing Spiderman.

He is a Spanish Colorist & Stereographer, as well as senior SGO Mistika artist with +9 years working with this system. Juan is Technical Editor of the book “3D Postproduction: Stereoscopic Workflows and Techniques” with Rick Baumgartner.

Before focusing his career on Color Grading and Stereoscopy, Juan worked professionally as a 3D animator, digital compositor and VFX supervisor; making him an unusually complete professional with a broad scope of the post-production field.

Juan relocated from Spain to Los Angeles, CA in 2011 and is currently the most experienced SGO Mistika operator living in the U.S.

Norman Hollyn

Professor of Cinematic Arts, USC

Norman Hollyn is a long-time picture and music editor and Professor at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, where he is the Inaugural Chair holder of the Steven Spielberg endowed Michael Kahn Chair in Editing.

He has published articles in magazines and peer-reviewed journals, and has written two film textbooks, The Film Editing Room Handbook and The Lean Forward Moment. He has led workshops at Sundance, and in China, Jordan, Finland, Malaysia, Brazil, and Mexico.

He is a member of AMPAS and the Student Academy Awards committee, the prestigious American Cinema Editors (ACE), and the Motion Picture Editors Guild.

Cirina Catania

Creative Writer, Director, DP and  Co-founder of Sundance Film Festival

Cirina Catania is a filmmaker who has worked as a writer, director, producer, cinematographer or marketing exec on over 130 film, television and new media projects for the big screen as well as for networks such as National Geographic, Discovery, etc. She is one of the co-founders and former director of the Sundance Film Festival and former senior marketing executive at MGM-UA and United Artists.

Cirina lives in LA, D.C. and Berlin when she is not on the road filming for her projects or for clients. She speaks regularly as a tech evangelist for companies such as Blackmagic Design and Lumberjack System and produces the weekly tech podcast, Digital Production BuZZ, with over 1600 interviews archived over the last eight years.

Cirina is a member of Local 600 (International Cinematographers Guild), the Producers Guild of America and the Writers Guild of America.

Tony Orcena


Tony Orcena has edited over 40 episodes of Modern Family (Wednesdays at 9pm on ABC). He also has credits on Life In Pieces (CBS), Mash Up (Comedy Central), Free Radio (VH1), and Congratulations (named one of film.com’s best feature films of 2012), and Kings of Summer (Official Selection 2011 Sundance Film Festival).

His commercial experience includes projects with GSD&M, Goodby Silverstein & Partners, Chiat Day, David & Goliath, and Publicis & Hal Riney among others.

Picture Editor

Jay Miracle became became involved in the Nothern California, Bay Area feature film production as a student at UC Berkeley.  His work at the time included films with Francis Ford Coppola (Apocalypse Now – Sound Editor), George Lucas (Star Wars – Assistant Editor to George and Marcia Lucas) and Milos Forman (One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest – Assistant Editor to Milos Forman and Lynzee Klingman).

Over the years Jay has worked with other renowned independent filmmakers including: Werner Herzog (Stroszek), Erroll Morris (The Gates of Heaven), Jean-Luc Godard and Chris Marker (Action One), Barbet Schroeder (Koko, the One Who Talks) and Wim Wenders (Hammett).

He has received both a Primetime Emmy Award and an American Cinema Editors Award (ACE) for his editing on the feature documentary Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmakers Apocalypse.

Music Editor, Composer & Author

Steven Saltzman’s current book is Music Editing For Film and Television, The Art and The Process.

For the past nineteen years Mr. Saltzman has focused his career on music editing for films and television. His work includes: Leonardo DiCaprio’s new film The Revenant, Queen Of The Desert, Brick Mansions, Movie 43, Priest, Seven Days in Utopia, Straw Dogs (remake), Bewitched and many other projects. He has received a Golden Reel Award and two nominations for his music editing.

Mr. Saltzman is a certified expert Avid Pro Tools instructor and has created a music-editing course, which he has been teaching for the past nine years. He serves on the Board of Directors for Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE). He is a member of the Motion Picture Editors Guild, the Society of Composers and Lyricists, the MPSE and the Local 47 Musicians Union.
